Liposuction (Liposculpture)
Laser-assisted liposuction (Lipotherme) is a procedure performed by Dr. Richard Tepper in his New Jersey plastic surgery practice. Similar to traditional liposuction, this procedure helps shape your body by removing fat that is unresponsive to dieting and exercising. Laser liposuction uses laser energy to dissolve the fat, making it easier to suction away. However, this procedure offers the added benefit of laser light energy. The heat effects of the laser can improve the degree of skin tightening.
Lipotherme may be used to effectively treat most any area of the body, including the lower face and neck regions.
REASONS for Considering Laser Liposuction
You may be a good candidate if:
- You have localized deposits of fat with associated loose skin.
- You desire correction beneath your chin or upper neck region.
- You desire correction in other areas of localized fatty deposits, such as knees, hips or the lower abdominal region.
Laser Liposuction is not a substitute for a healthy diet and regular exercise, but it can be an effective procedure for reducing or eliminating stubborn fatty deposits. Ideal surgical candidates are non-smoking individuals in good health and who have localized fatty deposits that have not responded to diet and exercise.
ABOUT Laser Liposuction
Laser Liposuction has several similarities to traditional liposuction. Dr. Tepper will inject tumescent fluid into the area to be treated. This sterile fluid contains a local anesthetic and medication to reduce bleeding during the procedure. The procedure can be performed under local anesthesia when smaller volumes are being removed.
Dr. Tepper uses a laser fiber to first “melt” the fat. This allows for easier removal of the fat with a very small cannula, providing you with a reduction in size. In addition, the laser energy helps to tighten the skin and soft tissues, allowing for an improved contour.
Dr. Richard Tepper wants to address your individual needs. During your consultation, he will gladly discuss whether your needs are best met through laser liposuction or traditional liposuction.
RECOVERY from a Laser Liposuction
Patients often experience some degree of swelling in the surgical areas, along with some soreness that responds nicely to oral medication. Patients can usually return to work within a few days. A compression garment is often worn for several weeks after the procedure.
RESULTS of Laser Liposuction
Both traditional and laser liposuction can help you look and feel better by removing or reducing unwanted areas of fat and giving you a smoother, slimmer profile. With laser liposuction, there is the added benefit from the laser energy.
